Cinnamon: a Class of its Own?

Cinnamon: a Class of its Own?

I think Cinnamon should have it’s own aroma family. It is just so distinct and occupies its own place in the aroma world, like the way Blue Gum Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus) and menthol do. Today I picked Cinnamon Leaf (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) and I classify it as “spicy“ and “sweet.” But I also think, so cinnamon is so distinct, that it could be used to describe and classify another essential oil. I’m wondering what other essential oils smell like cinnamon and are not part of the Cinnamomum family. Do you know?
