Green, Grassy, Herbaceous, or Spicy?

· Singles
broken image

Today I picked Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus). I describe its fragrance as citrus (lemony), sweet, and spicy. Others describe it as lemony, sweet, and grassy; lemony, sweet, and herbaceous; and lemony, sweet, and green. Yes it’s a grass so you’d think I would go with grassy but I’m sticking with spicy in the way Ginger is spicy, and not in the way Clove Bud is spicy. For me, grassy is more like Galbanum grassy, herbaceous is more for Marjoram or Rosemary, and green is more for unripe. I may change my mind later, but I’m sticking with this for now. How would you describe the aroma of Lemongrass?
