Magnolia (Magnolia × alba) is a trip. I assumed it would be floral. We have a Magnolia tree. I’ve smelled its flowers. I get it, or so I thought!
I did my exercise and at 0:00 I smelled sweet, very sweet. Fruity, and cool / fresh. 20 minutes later it was still fruity, sweet, fresh, but then turned green and continued for the rest of the hour. Then when I went back to it at 3:00 it was spicy and sweet! I was very surprised. Overall it smelled floral, too, but then at hour 5:00 it was straight up spicy. Goes to show not to assume what an oil will smell like. Maybe next oil I may not look at the name when I do the exercise. That would definitely keep me from assuming!
My classification: sweet, fruity, floral, spicy, fresh.
