Today I picked Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata), and I come to find out it's Ylang Ylang 1 of the available Ylang Ylag Extra, 1, 2, 3, and Complete. Ylang Ylang is extracted using steam distillation, but that process is stopped, the fractions are collected, and then the process is resumed. Extra is first, and has the lightest fractions, 1 and 2 have medium fractions, and 3 has the heaviest. Complete is from the entire distillation process and is preferred for aromatherapy. I will definitely do a smell test using the other Ylang Ylang grades and get myself Ylang Ylang Complete!

As for Ylang Ylang 1, I found it to be: sweet, floral, spicy, fruity(?), and cool.
