Kerosene?

· Singles

Today I picked Buddha Wood (Eremophila mitchellii) and to me it smelled medicinal in a kerosene sort of way, woody, and smokey. I‘ve read it described as woody, balsamic, and smokey, so I’m wondering what is that kerosene-medicinal smell? Is that what perfumers call “phenolic”? After awhile, it smelled slightly like honey, is that balsamic? Establishing an olfactory vocabulary is hard!
